Helmet Texture??

What was used late in the war for the texture on the helmets???

1-Aluminum-Oxide
2-Aluminum phosphate
3-fine sand

I was talkin to my buddy and he says Aluminum-Oxide ,Or fine sand???
But i dont know what do you guys think....

Yes it is.....Sand would plug up any spray equipment as it is heavy etc when it is wet.
