    Perry,
The band speaks for itself, suspicious or not. I have an M35 with the date stamped upside down on the liner. I guess these types of variances don't surprise me being in manufacturing for the last 29 years.

Well your 1943 band doesnt have the square aluminum chistrap buckles. What would that mean?

I have seen aluminum buckles on zinc liner bands and steel buckles on aluminum liner bands (like the one pictured)

I have seen both an aluminum and steel buckle on a zinc liner band.

I do not think its that uncommon to see mixed or matched parts.

The Germans used what was available/left over

          Jean-Loup,

I believe the chinstrap D-rings were added after the initial manufacture of the band, so this configuration doesn't surprise me terribly. I have a 1940 (I think) dated example with one squared-off aluminum and one rounded-off steel D-ring, and a 1931-dated liner with rounded-off steel D-rings. I think it's yet another example of the Germans using whatever was at hand.

I took the band out yesterday. I took pictures but with poor light did not came out well. I will try later.
The band actually is from 1940. I took the band out as I have done it in the past. Now I know I should not have done it.
The band is size 57 .I can't make the entire name as it is mostly stamped as a circle but is like
Schubert (or something like that at the top I can't make all of it)
In the center in large letter DRP, below that in smaller letters 1940
At the bottom of the circle the letter that I can make up are BR----eig?
I did not wanted to use windex but the letters look well stamped.
I will try to get better pictures
                thanks

Juan in the future don't do that. You've knocked the value down on that helmet by more than half. Save what you can and don't clean the shell or band and put it back as close as you can to the way it was..
