m40 ss helmet?

Hi,this is a nice helmet but are the decals original to it ,the helmet is untouched as to paint and linner it was very cheep a number of years ago,the runes appears to be a original decal ,high metalic content etc but what about the party shield,please help comments much appreciated.

Sorry merdock, it's a Czech repaint with an original liner refitted and fake decals

I dont think its a repaint, seing the inside, but as far as I know, no mdl 40 helmets have 2 decals, whitch would seem to indicate the national shield is a copy.

It's a fanasy piece, repo decals of course. There were Model 40SS in DD but not a Allgemeine SS.

When I say it is a repaint, it is a genuine German helmet shell that was repainted for use by the Czechs after the war.

I'm not an SS decal expert but it is pretty obvious that there remains the outline of the SS rune decal on the one side. I don't think you'd see that kind of residue from a properly crafted decal.

The colors don't look right and I'm not personally happy with the way the "damage" has occured to the decal. I would almost think it was a water transfer and flaked off over time.

thanks all always thought they my be additions especially the national shield was not sure about the runes,but as to the paint it does not look like a repaint at all ,are you all sure they were no black painted original helmets issued to any branches? as to the linner its never been out ,do you think i should remove the decals.

Perry, what your saying is all Allgemeine SS DD helmets are either M35 or M18?

DD Allg. SS will only be a M35 or earlier models..
