M42 Ss Dd

Hello Everybody,

I'am quite new here, used to be a reader only user, now a have a question worth writing.

Last week a buoght a perfect LW SD M42 and a K98 bajo from a local aquintance, he also offered me a DD M42 of the SS, i know they ussualy not exist but the story and background of the seller are worth trusting for me.

The helmet remained behind in Northern Limburg in Holland (area between Nijmegen en Venlo) A kid used to play with it after the war, when the parents found out it was a SS helmet it dissapeared to the attic. Later they gave it to the man I am gone buy it from.
But the catch is is that it is a M42 DD SS and that the kid repainted parts of the decal....

Who got some comments on it?!? Don't be gentle!

Decals are bad.....IF you do a search for good decals, you should easily see why.....Bodes

no good. would make a nice pot for flowers, unlikely M42 would be DD, especially at Nijmagen (c.1944)

that the decals ain't right I can see myself, but the problem is there are decals underneath the terrible bad paint...the black paint of the party decal is original.

Does the advice stays getting children an let them play with it... My girl is gonna have a hard time.....

Ha Ha what a brilliant story especially the bit where the kid painted the decals . "perfect LW SD M42" I think I would post pics of this helmet as the seller doesnt sound like a very honest guy .Rob.

there where some markings, not all very possible to read:
size stamp 58
in the neck 6784
side NS85 (am not sure about this one)

Buy the helmet not the history....the decals looks bad....

I have seen that LW helmet before. Possibly this forum or another. Very distinctive........

i would still let your little girl play with this nothing good about it except as a representation piece sorry to say
