    Army decal

    Hello Folks
just wanted an opinion on this army decal, it does not scratch with the nail and seems firmly attached and laquered. It is odd in that it is sliced. The inside portion looks a bit wrinked from the picture. Transfer thats been laquered ? The way the left side is angled is more than offputting.

    Thanks
    Chris.

War time produced Ed Strache decal. According to Combat helmets of the TR vol II these are usually found on M42 helmets and a lot of these decals are post war applied. (Page 113)

This one looks extremely badly applied so it could be a post war experiment

I must say these Strache decals are popping up a lot these last weeks.

      Cheers DH. for the info
This one is on a transitional helmet which is a little peculiar. Doesnt look to at home on it either to be honest. Looks like it was razor bladded and stuck down by a 10 year old.

      all the best

That's a real one and being on a transitional is fine.

I agree, I thought the general consensus was that a Strach decal on a transitional was acceptable. It looks like the decal "blew apart" when it was applied. I have read where that is common on older decals that are newly applied.

            Hi Paul
Do you mean in has been applied in recent years or back in the 30s-40's ?

            cheers
            Chris.

The type of helmet is correct but it just doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
