Locking for lids in L.A & San Francisco next holidays...

Another friend of mine goes to USA for a wedding travel.
    He collect like us.
This is his letter for members:

Here I am again asking you for help. I am going exactly to Los Angeles, San
Francisco and Las Vegas on holidays next 6th to 15th. of November. I’d like to
know If you can give me any address or direction of militaria dealers or
    shops in this cities.
I’m loking for 1st. and 2nd. WW items, mostly steel helmets. I’ve found a
shop/museum in Petaluma, 45 minutes to the north of San Francisco
    (www.militaryantiquesmuseum.com). I’ll go there sure.
I’ll be in every city a short space of time and I’ll have to go right to exact
and near places, trying to convince my wife too!! It’s my first time in USA
and I am excited with the idea of finding good items.
Would you please give me any other address where to find militaria?
I’d like to come back home with any helmet in my bag.
Otherwise, If you can recommend me any monument, military museum or whatever
related with 2nd. WW I’ll be glad of receiving news. I’ve read in a guide that
the 11th. of November is the Veterans Day. Is there any relevant activity
these day that I could live directly?
Forgive me, because I’m making you many questions. I’m looking for information
    in google too.
Thanks in advance and best wishes to everybody from Barcelona.

      Hello,
I live in central California. Near Fresno which is located exactly between Los Angeles and San Fransisco. I don't know of any shops, but there are a couple of neat museums to see. I hear the Weisanthal(spelling?)Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles is a good sight to see, Holocaust related museum. Also if you are passing through Fresno, there is the Legion of valor museum in downtown. I believe its the largest legion of valor museum in California. Its full of artifacts and weapons mainly WW2 era. It focuses on Central California Veterans. Approximately 10,000 square feet. I think there is even a military museum in the Presidio in San Fransisco.

Hey MAS36, I was in the Tin Soldier last month as I live in Folsom and get over there every once and awhile just to look.......

Hey superraton, you could also try a militaria store in Moss Landing, CA. Kinda near Monterey on the US Highway One. Lots of helmets as I remember. I can't remember the name but you can see it from the road. If you are in San Francisco go to the Presidio and see the military museum there, it has a few tanks and cannons, and helmets too! Go to Fort Point under the Golden Gate Bridge to see an American Civil war fort with cannons! it dates from the 1850's. You can also go across the bay to Alemeda and board the USS Hornet, aircraft carrier from WW2 which is docked there, it is a museum. If for some reason you get to Sacramento go to old town Sacramento and check out the California military museum, lots of weapons and helmets! If you are in Los Angeles go to Chino, about 1 hour east of LA, and see the Planes of Fame museum, no helmets as I remember but lots of original WW2 aircraft, like a ME 262, Hellcat, Zero, Me 263, and even a Salamander German jet aircraft.... a very cool place! Have a great trip! Chris

The name of the surplus store is J&S surplus and outdore store. I was in there about a month ago. They don't have any quality helmets anymore. What they had recently was way overpriced and poor condition. They do however have a couple of display cases of odds and ends. alot of third reich shoulderboards insignia and misc. all priced within reason.

Avoid Kaplan's and the Military Antiques Museum. Kaplan's sells current surplus military items and the MAM has some original items but are way overpriced.

                    Reviews of Antique Trove

Hey guys I just thought I would pass this along.

                    ANTIQUE TROVE Roseville, CA
Avoid Antique Trove like the plague if your looking for militaria. I have never seen so many fake or messed with items in one place. There are two dealers that have German items they are selling as original of which 90% are fake. I spoke with the manager there several times showing the difference in real and fakes. If you like antiques thats great its a cool place but do not expect to go there any find any original WWII German items.
