i dont know if the story is true but if i saw an helmet like that i wouldnt like it,i could be wrong,apart from liner and chinstrap which are good

Hello to all, I have no problem with the story. I have a Wehrpass with additional papers were the German soldier lost three items of equipment and was courtmartialed to a penal unit. Feel very sorry for him because he was born in December 1926 and only a kid really. This KM soldier / sailor would have been in big trouble and faced serious discipline.

The question I have here is the helmet itself. Would a grey painted helmet not be part of a ships equipment. It was my understanding that the grey ones are part of the battle-station equipment of a boat and Marines / Coastal Artillery wore field grey. Could another member please clarify this ?
