and another one ojaa the fact that iam still happy is that for mine feeling and that from about a 20 other guys who kept the helmet in their hand that it is good but i agree the picture,s when you loooked at you,re bout to say it is repainted but that is not when you take a good look atr the inside with the bleu stempel still clearly visseble

This one is actually a easy one. I could determine it sitting on a table at a show without picking it up..
Both are repo's, the SS is actually a cross between a first and second pattern..the construction characteristics are a dead give away as well...
For the Party shield the off-center comments are correct, plus the classic "skimpy looking" swastika...

Perry, I agree with you. At the first glance I wouldn't write the runic decal off because the photo was not taken at the right angle but I should have seen it... This decal is indeed a mixture between first and second type. You have a sharp eye

Ty, I don't like that decal either. It's too with and it seems to me that the decal is lacking the typical metallic content. Can you post a snap of the other site and the liner? That would help a lot.

Yes, you could be right. I was only wondering about the 'white' looking but that could be due to the way it was photographed. The measures are right in my opinion so I would love to see the other photos.

Thanks Vince, This one is from a well respected collector. It happens to be named and I have a copy of the his name and SS number from the Berlin Document Center Roll Archives. Its an interesting helmet in that it was reissued and repainted with a smooth green paint and redecaled over the originals. You can see the outline of the first set under the second. Kinda of cool
