Here is one that I never knew what the finish was. The liner was missing when I aquired it in the 60's. Also note that the eagle was covered and "dug out" by someone at some time.

What do you think?

The texture very well could be, difficult to say from the picture. It does look like it may have had a winter camo coat under the camo.

Very interesting... If this helmet has been possession since the 60s, it deserves it's own thread. There will be many opinions on that decal and in my opinion, they're all going to go one way.

As far as the discussion on the first helmet, I have at least two wire helmets that were painted over the wire.
