Hi guys
Today I received an old German helmet and my first thought was that is one ugly helmet and grouse too. Sticky and smelled
Some of It was covered in some black thick paint but also a lot of rust spots without paint, the paint was loose and there was a lot of rust flakes falling off.....
Hmm throw it in the trash
I started cleaning it not thinking of taking some photos
And underneath it was white of some sort of paint or chalk. Under the white there is the original green paint but I******180;m pretty sure the white is an original whitewash. Unfortunately I got this helmet about 20 years to late so it has some big spots without paint due to rust and also small spots of black paint is left.
The helmet was also painted black inside for the inside job I used Acetone and It came of without any trouble. The helmet was also named ! In the photos you can still see some paint inside with the liner band, did not want to take the liner out.
The helmet is a M40 and is marked ET64.
This helmet is not a killer and I think most of you guys would not have it in
your collection but after all and a few hours of work it came back from the dead and is now a zombie
Cheers
Lassi
When I thought of getting my camera there was not much black paint left, but here is a closeup of what it looked when I got it!
