    M40 lW camo

    Hello again,
    i'd show you this odd camo lw wich has some features intresting! the paint is very strange made and there are three pieces of hemp insise! wath does it for and what about the name? doest it a FJ rank? this helmet has been for severial years in a italian museum, and never tuched to nobody collectrors or others people! opinion are well came, thanks!

                      That material looks like what is called a "hessian" cover. Picture of one on the cover of the last Radovic book. Several period pics of those in there as well.
                      No explination for that pattern in the paint other than it may have been caused by that cover. Maybe the paint was not dry when it was put on. I like it........

                      Also.... A tip for you my English speaking friend..... The word you are spelling "wath" is correctly "what". Very good job though. I don't speak a word of Itallian.

                          in the mean time thanks for correcting me, this forum help me a lot to learn your language the skin is a kind i never seen before, its very soft! the rank inside, make me thinking it was used from a paratrooper, we can see many photos period with!

                            The rank name Oberjäger can be for an Fj personal or a Lw Fielddivision. But it can also concern an HG division man... Specialy for an helmet found in Italy.

                              That's very nice.
                              The camo looks almost like reptile skin. I agree, that hemp/burlap is probably from a camo strap cover of sorts.
