Chickenwire is a post-war addition.

So you will know one of the reasons why this wire is easily identifyable as bad....... Look at the twist. It goes one way toward the center and then the other way away from the center. Commonly called reverse twist.
That means it is not European war time wire and should not be on this helmet.

the chickenwire looks like it has some sort of black coating on it. Probably to make it look older?
