Steve I believe all Feldpost numbers had five numbers. Anyone know for certain?

Yes they were 5 numbers....however they could be preceeded and suffixed with letters!

      Could this be 12048?

If so it belonged to 4 Kp., Inf.Rgt. 323 in 1939....1941 onwards it belonged to Ldschtz.Zug. d. Lw. 174/VI.

        Thanks guys,
I spoke to the owner of the helmet and he said it is possible the B is an 8. If this is the case, what type of unit is the last one Ian mentioined ?
        Thanks
        Steve.

          Hi Steve,
It's a Local Defence unit...a bit like Home Guard! This one would have been raised and used in Luftgau VI. H.Q. for this district was in Münster.
