Crazy Helmet prices

i dont get it one day a near mint SD for $500 the next day a DD for $2999

Thats about the price of a paratroop helmet isn't it? Is the difference between between one decal and two $2500 ???

Prices are crazy
But on the other hand if it was I who was selling a nice helmet I would prefere a good price too

That $500 SD was priced at about half of what it is worth.
A very good deal for the lucky buyer who saw it first, that's for sure.
I'll bet his trembling fingers couldn't get the "I'll take it" button pushed fast enough.
Just because one sells at a lower than normal price doesn't mean that all the $1000 examples of the same thing are over priced.
Same thing goes for one that sells for $2000. Doesn't mean that's what they're all worth.
A nice example of a ND FJ is closer to $3900. Not $2900.
And yes, a decal is what's worth the money. Compare two otherwise identical helmets with Heer vs SS decals and that point is clear.

I agree that an item is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

That said. Prices are totally nuts!

I'll always be in this hobby, but like iv said many times before.. screw buying a SS (just to take an example).. I will never EVER spend that much money on (im sorry to say this) a piece of metal and leather.
Of course I see the value in a SS lid, and its one of the more desireable historical pieces, but then again people its no more than some material that was produced at minimum cost.
All im saying is, If I ever get a SS lid (which I hopefully will one day) I will never pay the market price, nor for any other item over 1000$.. its just insane.
