being a newbie to helmet collecting and
already being fooled once,
I was upset when doing a search of eBay
I happened on this site.

I dont mind anyone trying to make a new replica,
but this guy is teaching someone to make helmets look old !!!
Intentionally or not ,he's teaching how to make fakes
Should he be allowed to do this.

whats the big deal?

This chaps passing info on to re-enactors and people who want to age their helmets accordingly, whats the big deal here?
If people really want to con others im sure theyll try with or without reading this guide, do dealers age some of their items for sale?...i bet they have a good go at it..

I really don't know about that.
If you are reenacting, don't you want to look period.
You may want it to look "battle used"
which is one of the things he goes over.

But he is also giving his techniques
to make leather and decals and such look "aged"
that's not really the same thing.

You could be in Iraq and come home with a
"battle used" helmet but it surely wont look like
an "aged" helmet.
They are not the same thing.
Do you see what I mean...

If you follow the directions in that page you'll get a piece of crap out. The dude is telling you to use fleckstone paint for crying out loud. The really good fakers probably laugh at those instructions...
But I see your point of view, I've been burned on EBay before and you just want to have someone to beat up when the turd comes in the mail.
