Since original items seem to sell for much more on eBay when offered by someone who doesn't know what they have, there must be a effort, albeit a lame one, for dealers to "play dumb" regarding their items in an attempt to increase buyer appeal. The problem is, when they get called on it, it may make their original items seem somewhat questionable.

I don't know much about FJ helmets or SS covers, so I'm not commenting on the originality of them.

But, more often than not, that technique is used on ebay to sell fake items. Not saying the items are fake, but I remain suspicious. Time will tell and I am sure we will be discussing this again.

If you know what you have, and make it clear you know what you have, sellers will get even more $$$ for an item. On ebay as well. There are plenty of deep pocket collectors out there who would not even blink at this going price.

I would love to hear from the ss cover guys.

I had the pleasure of examining these 2 helmets. The SS camo cover has been on the helmet forever, with a pattern of aging and oxidation marks that mirror the helmet. The helmet was a single decal SS with the decal removed. It was wonderful and will be very expensive when offered.

However, the paratroop helmet is the finest I have ever seen. A rare camo pattern complete with the shooting star emblem, on the side. I do believe it will set a record, for price, when sold. I made an offer, and just can't afford it, but I would rather have this para than any other I have ever seen.
