The liner looks original, the chistrap is hard to tell from that photo. I have not seen that makers mark as a repo yet??? The paint is not correct, IMO. Looks post war applied, with no real wear.

I would not buy that helmet for more than the sum of the value of the parts based on those pictures.

That being said......... I do not think there is a 100% for sure way to tell if that paint is original or not, based on those pictures.

The wear does not look realistic because there hardly is any, and what there is..... is not what would be considered textbook. That by itself does not positivly make it a fake (just most likely).

The liner is real. There is no way to tell if it is original (or not) to that helmet, based on those pictures.

The chinstrap looks good from the picture of the tip/stamp. The leather in that picture looks authentic and I have not see that stamp before, which means it's not a common fake (my guess would be that it's a real strap).

But....... picture of the strap on the buckle side does not look convincing, and I would want to either see that in hand or at least a much better picture of the buckle. One thing I've learned is....... there are a bazillion different real buckles. Some are easily identifyable as the real thing with one look of a picture and others aren't.

If this is suposed to be a SS helmet, why isn't there a picture of what identifies it as such.

Reality is...... unless this thing just came out of grandpas footlocker and has never been seen before, it would have already been recognised as "extreme value camo" and be securely locked up in Matt Millers collection.

Most likely a big disapointment waiting to happen.

Like most of us, Matt only has two eyes and one wallet.
