Yea...... it's like the police guys practiced putting decals on....... one on top of another. I can't imagine why a helmet in that condition, needed another party shield. Strange

Yes Ron, seeing a gorgeous girl it's not a good reason to undervalue a beautiful girlfriend.
About the decals features, Frank,according to my experience, if the shell producer and decal match has some kind of matter also for police lids, I find that the combination of decals of your 42 (you know I like it... ) looks more like the ones found on M40 bordered police (SE or Q the most seen by me)
The police 42s I saw (always EF) most often have the kind of decals featured on Ron's and Francis' lids. The EF party shield on those lids is pretty peculiar and recognizable and the eagle ha a sligthly different design
with a more flat and less deep appearance with the tendency to easy show the whitish/silverish underneath scratches (probably due to decal production process)common also to Heer EF eagle.
Obviously the decal shell match is not a dogma, And
we often see exceptions.
Just my two cents of personal experience and observation, in these thread I saw 3 nice/very nice
42 police and I know one thing.... I still need a nice one for my police collection

You are right Mario I checked with my M40 SE Police and the decals match.

As Mario said , there also is a connection between decal maker and shell with pol helmets . Frank , your decals are of an early type and the others showed are later but both are ok in this case

The two decal types shown on both these EF helmets are perfectly correct and acceptable - these are the two known types of decals used on EF helmets.

The aluminum liner band is indeed a bonus, and this is not the only EF shell I have seen that used that liner in an M42 double decal combat helmet. Proof enough that these liners were used well into 1943 and thereafter.-C
