            Hello Mark,
Can you post more photos? There are a few things that look odd to me, at least in these photos. The color of the band looks too light, the padding looks insufficient, the piping doesn't seem to have the right color or size, the angle of the peak is odd unless the cap has been crushed, and the lining material and edges of the material look unusual. If you can take some daylight photos without the flash, and some interior shots, that would be helpful.

              Hi Erich,

I have several daylight photos but I am unable to load them at the moment because of their size. Can I send them directly to you via email? By the way, you are correct about the color of the band...it is a lighter shade of green than you usually find on a Heer visor but I'm not entirely certain this in itself is a red flag. Also, there is no padding in the front of the sweat band, however, I have several original Heer Officer Visors that are constructed the same way. I know that pictures can only do so much justice to any item and it can't replace holding it, feeling and smelling it to get a better determination on its authenticity. I know you live close to me and I wouldn't mind you stopping by to take a look.

              Thanks

              Mark

                Hello Mark,
Sure, you can e-mail the photos and I'll check them this evening. I'll see if I can get out your way.
You're right on all counts, but when you put them together, it's something to scrutinize. Also, it's the apparent lack of padding at the overhang that looks a bit odd. I've never had a cap by this maker, so I'm not sure if it's just a different style, but more photos might help.

I too share concerns on this piece. Amongst the biggest are the lining and method of attachment. The color and texture of the lining is very similar to early Janke’s. Also the tucked under edge of the lining is also a Janke trait. Another thing which is hard to tell in photos sometimes is the sweat shield material. From the photo this one gives the appearance of plastic and not celluloid. More photos of the sweatband stitching should be of significance here.

                    Thanks

Mark, for all of the reasons posted already and then some I don't like the cap!

I've never encountered a cap showing that 'outer' material and the devices to include their placement are suspect.

Additionally, is the 'sweat diamond' a "HOLTERS" wannabe?
                      Regards,
                      Dave

From the images posted, I must concur with my colleagues that this is a hat of spurious origin.

                            Gents,

I appreciate everyone's comments...the expertise on this website has saved me countless dollars from buying fake crap and I thank all of you for that. I'll be returning the cap to the seller.

Here are a couple of quick photos for those who have not seen some of Michael Janke’s early work. Take not of the crossed hatched visor.
