hi, a friend of mine and also a member of this forum simon102nd has just been caught out by an ebay fraudster called tornado terror but this guy keeps changing his id he had another id aswell going on at same time, he sold simon a helmet for £200 infact i posted a pic of the helmet on forum asking for opinions on decal before he bought it,anyway this guy just puts pics on of helmets hes probably scanned and auctions them, also does it with swords of high value ,these just do not exist he then gets the money and you get nothing, when hes ripped off enough people just changes id again,

Some members there suggest the seller should bail out... He's selling a 2000+ USD helmet for only a lousy 530 USD...

The member who knows the seller (Dk Crouch) and who had inquired, provided the link to the thread on that other forum...

By suggesting at Ebay his acount had been hijacked and he didn't put this helmet up for sale, the auction result would become void and he doesn't have to go on with this sale... WHAT A BRILLIANT EXCUSE!!!!

          Gerd,

If all what you are implying is correct then you have every right to feel aggrieved.

            Two questions:

            1) If Derek thought the helmet was fake, Why would he sell it on ebay when he had a life time guarantee from the seller and many told him (including me) they would buy it?

            2) If these bogus auctions were the result of an ebay hacker, how did he get pictures of his SS helmet and know how to describe it?

Does that mean there is a ebay hacker and collector trolling on this forum?

            I can't figure these out...

This is the post for me that really raises questions...

If what combat-helmets says is true...

Did he discuss the helmet with the seller, DKC?

Did the seller DKC say he regreted not putting a reserve on the helmet to him???

If combat-helmets is telling the true, then who was he discussing the helmet with? A Hacker that hijacked DKC account or the true DKC.

                Something is missing here...

If combat-helmets knows DKC than you would think that he would discuss (through email I presume) the helmet with the "real" DKC and not a hacker.

I have "no dog in the fight" just trying to figure this one out.

It would be great to have combat-helmets on the discussion...if he is on WAF. That would answer some questions.

                  Ty,

I think this could happen but then why would the hacker have the payment sent to the original owners address?

What if it was the hackers 'mistake' or maybe the hacker is just trying to be a nuisance.

I'm confused how a person could be a collector and a hacker. that is know enough to know SS helmets and create havoc on ebay?

Just trying to figure it out,

PAB - What's your take on my first question?
[if thought it was bad, why sell on ebay. had a lifetime guarantee and I told him I would buy it?]

                          So again, what's so confusing....

If Derek is telling the truth and the auction was a result of ebay hacker, how did the hacker get the pictures of his SS helmet and know how to describe it. Why would the hacker do this? I find it unlikely that there could be a hacker and collector doing this.

So, if it's derek why would he sell a helmet on ebay (thinking it's bad) with a lifetime guarantee and with people to sell it to.?

To get more money perhaps than what you offered ?

Looks like he was trying to sell it under the radar.

                            No mention of Elite decal.

It is obvious from the outtakes below that there is no hacker involved.

He was probably so sure that it was gonna sell high that he put no reserve on it and it bit him in his behind.

                            Just my 2 cents

From what has been presented by both sides its looking like a case of sellers regret.
The helmet is listed on ebay(a worldwide public auction) with no reserve, as the seller is unsure of the originality of the helmet. The helmet runs the duration with a winning bid of just over $500. Near the end of the auction the helmet is disussed on a couple of forums. The opinion from the forums is favorable to the helmet being original. The seller is then contacted by members of another forum to inform him that he has basicly "scewed up" and sold a $4,000 helmet for 1/8 of the value. The seller then feels he has made a terrible mistake and feels he has to back out of the deal in some way.
As I mentioned, with what has been presented this looks like the likely scenerio of events.
I have asked for Derek to provide us with his side of the story to counter the evidence presented, and I hope he still does.

I think this might be the case IMO.
