2 Flight Helmets from Hitlers Private Aircraft

Hello all. I'm new to this forum but it looks to be the right place to post what I have to show...

Here's the story. Please view the link at the bottom of this message that shows both a summer and winter flight helmet that are from Hitlers Private Aircraft. (Condor). These are owned by a friend of mine's father who is a veteran of WW2. I'll be brief in my explanation here as the photos really tell the story but basicly these items were taken as souvenirs after the war had ended, by my friends father, as he was in hitlers private airplane. Around 1997 my friends father wanted to get these items appriased for value so had a document printed and was verified as true by his lawyer. He was going to send this off with photos of the helmets but then never did. His son was asking him about the helmets and asked if he had any old letters that he had mailed back home while he was in the war.. Well it turns out he did indeed have some letters, and reading the letters it really tells the story.. The initials on the summer helmet is CH. So if anyone knows who those initials stand for I'd love to here from you. There are no initials on the Winter helmet. Some condor pilots I found where Captain Huebner and Captain Husslein.

I'm pretty sure you can read the important single page letter from the photos but just in case below are the important parts of the letter.

    R.C.A.F Flensburg, June 14, 1945

    Dear Mom, Dad & Evelyn,

Just a few lines in answer to your most welcome letter of the 4th of June. I am glad to ehar you are doing fine as I am doing the same. The weather here is about the same as it is at home. In fact it is raining right now and has been all day long. It has been quite a while since we had any real sunshine. Of course we are right in line for all the wind off the Baltic Sea. It shouldn't be long before we are all in the same place sharing the same weather.

Well today I seen Hitler's private aircraft. Boy, what an aircraft. It has seats as good and even better then the most modern chesterfield. It even has a little kitchen, with a sink. The tables in it are made of real good wood and finished like nobody's business. ....

    ---

It goes on but the the last part isn't really important to the flight helmets but I wanted you to read the important parts...

I'd love to hear comments on what you guys think of these flight helmets. I have 2 books by C.G. Sweeting that probably have a bunch of info in them but I haven't had time to read them. They are "Hitler's Squadron" "The Fuehrer's Peronsal Aircraft and Transport Unit, 1933-45", and "Hitler's Peronsal Pilot, The life and times of Hans Baur".

Please make sure to view the link to my gallery showing all the photos as there are too many to attach here.. The gallery link is below..

    nice story,

i heard the story from a few boys who entered a downed aircraft and saw a label : FUHRER in the cockpit,
    thinking it was Hitlers seat.

hard to proove, and even doubt Hitler had a condor a private plain i thought it was a Junker

If I am not mistaken, 'Condor' was merely the call sign for the JU 52. Herman Goering's aircraft identifying callsign was 'Richthofen'............if I remember correctly.

The first helmet, an LKpW101, is a nice example and worth about $350-$400. The second one is a pity because this model, the LKpN101 was favored by fighter pilots for its mesh top. It's basically in relic condition and I'd value it as a parts piece, roughly $150. Had it been intact, it would have been worth $400-$450.

Hitler's FW200 flew to Spain in the closing days of the war. It served with the Spanish Air Force and was later scrapped.

As I understand it, all that remains is Hitler's armored seat which resides in a Spanish museum.

                  Best regards.
