have seen it and maybe stamped SS but does look very good please tell me i am wrong!

That chinstrap looks "right" to me - at least from the comparisons to the very, very, very few originals that I have seen just like it - the configuration of the stampings is right on - and from the age, it seems these are not fresh or artificially distressed "additions" to the chinstrap. Just my opinion. The fact is, if the chinstrap is original, its almost rarer than the helmet! -C
