    Pekuro Project Visor

    Hi everyone,
Theres a gun shop not far from me that also deals in Military Antiques. They just got this Pekuro Art. visor in with some other items, so I got it at a decent price. The outside is in very good shape, but the inside could use some TLC. I'd like to restore it (reattach visor and sweatband).I have some old black thread, Im not sure how old. If someone could tell me were I could get some period thread I'd greatley appreciate it ..thanks

I don’t know about the thread but that visor is sure a wake up call. In the past I have been quick to judge visors with mis-matched wear patterns differently than I would otherwise. Never again after seeing that visor. What a contrast, and looks to be 110% original.

Your right, there is a big differance from inside to the outside. The outside is in very nice shape, but there is some minor moth grazeing. Here is a better shot of makers label.

Unquestionably, original Pekuro cap. Karl, I cannot help you with the tread but do your best to fix it so she can be a beauty once again

              Happy New Year,

Hi Karl, maybe try antique stores, I have seen thread from the 30-40`s era.
But being black, I would think any cotton thread would do. I have the same problem with a Pekuro Officers Calvary visor. The visor holding on with a couple of threads, and I am not a seamtress...Good Luck.
                Very Nice Visor!
                Regards,
                Gary

                  Thanks evervone,
That gun shop also had a fairley good Luft.em/nco Flight visor (a bit out of shape and eagle missing) but at a v.g. price. I'll try to pick it up today and post some photos soon...HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hi Karl, I've got some authentic pre 45 german thread if you need some. I can also do the restoration for you if you like.
                    Cheers
                    Ben

Thanks very much for the offer Ben. I'm very hesitant about shipping items to the UK. It took over 3 weeks for Harry B. to get a visor that I shipped him. I would like to take up your offer on that thread. Great job on that SS visor.Ill send you a PM...Thanks Karl
