    Green waffenfarbe on cap

Can anyone please help with this variant of green waffenfarbe. What branch of service does it represents? It seems to me to be the grass green of panzergrenadier.

            Hello Jacque,

If possible could you post some inside pics on both caps?

            Regards,

I am inclined to agree with Sander.

Agree, appears to be Pz Gren & Mtn Inf respectively.

Tony, some pic's of the inside. What is the difference between panzergrenadier grass green waffenfarbe and the lime green worn by the schutzen (especially as found in Africa). Is there a difference? Do you get four or three green waffenfarbe variants. By the way the second cap is not mine, the first one has seen it all, well worn.

Sander is correct. The first one is grass green (Wiesengrun) for Panzergrendadiers or armored infantry while the second is light green (Hellgrun) for rifle and mountain troops. A third shade of green exists which is dark green (Dunkelgrun) for administrative officials (Wehrmachtbeamten). The problem with the green waffenfarbes is that like other colored cloth pieces, they often fade over time. Since there is only moderate difference between the three, major fading can turn a dark green into a light green. I have seen various caps where it was impossible to accurately group them. Fortunately, these seem to be in great shape.

                        Hi Jacqes,

I found this thread that you may find on topic:
                        dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/showthread.php?t=120886&highlight=waffenfarbe+gree n

In my book there are three greens. Grass green for panzer grenadier, dark green for administrators and an in between green for gerbirgsjager. I agree with everybodys comments regarding the above caps.

                        Regards,

Tony, thanx for that. Dal Mcquirk in his book "Rommel Army in Afrika", identifies the following three green colours with pictures. grass green (wiesengrun), light green (hellgrun), and lime green (resedagrun). This does not cover the dark green of beampten. The other two mentioned were apparently introduced after the light green which is shutzen and jager.

It also seems that there is a lot of green variants (as much as four)within the panzergrenadier waffenfarbe, from a very yellow green to a toxic bright green as pictured in my photo.
