Hi, Has anybody heard of a cap maker Seigfried Frank, Jnsterburg, or Insterburg? If so could you post a picture of the maker mark please? I cant find it in my books. Thank You

Jnsterburg = Insterburg, an East Prussian garrison of cavalry among other branches of the service. If you consult the 1932 rank list of the Reichswehr, you find: II Btl. J.R. 1; 2. u. 3. Esk. R. R. 1; I Abt. A.R. 1; Heeres Standortverwaltung; Standortlazarett. Such a large military presence surely supported various little firms devoted to militaria and regalia of the garrison. The place must today be in Poland or Russia, but a colleague will set me straight here. The Wilkins book has many virtues, but its list of makers in areas of central and eastern Germany that became part of Poland or Russia (or the Czech Republic, &c. &c....) after 1945 forms an area in need of further data. Surely the revision will include it. I imagine that much regalia owned or made in this part of the world got incinerated in 1945. Viz: "....Vater ist im Kriege; das Pommerland ist abgebrannt..."

Siegfried Frank was located at 8 Rathausstrasse in Insterburg. Sorry, but I cannot help you an image of their maker mark however.

As ever, many thanks for very valuable data. Was this firm one of handicrafts (i.e. Muetzenmacher...) or industrial production of such regalia?

Frank held an A2 Muetzenmacher (handwerk) designation, his code was A 2/1277.

Many thanks. And, I wonder how many establishments made Militaereffekten in various locales, but not for the party and its branches and were devoid of RZM license. An even more trivial question undeserving of an answer.
