    Reissued M40 Single Decal Helmet

    Hello,
This helmet is for sale in the E-stand. I asked the seller, if I could post the item.
I'd like to buy the helmet.

I trust the seller 100% , and I have no reason to doubt on the helmet.

I just check things always, where I'm not an expert in.
Is there anything not original on this helmet?

Chinstrap buckle isn't one I've seen before - but other than that, it's fine

          Why ??

          Hello,
Thanks for your help. I bought the helmet.

I have some questions about this helmet.

Why didn't the germans gave the entire helmet a new Luftwaffe colour as well? That isn't that much work, when you also remove the decal.

Isn't this decal attached in a hurry. (like you would expect on a re-issued one)
I mean, how can you see that this decal isn't attached post-war on a de-nazified helmet?

I hope someone can help me, with some idea's!

          Greerings,
          Frank!

Hi Frank, I think the simple answer is that there was a war on. Corners were cut and paint needed to be saved? I have no problem with the decal, as it matches in wear to the rest of the helmet, but if it did not, it would be cause for concern.

              Cheers, Ade.

I think you will find that there were some inaccuracies in that description. The helmet looks like a standard Luft M40 that received either an overpaint or camo of lighter green paint, the original color being the Luft factory blue color vice the "parade green" finish listed. ET Luft factory finish M40s tend to have a green cast to them, but they are standard Luftwaffe. The decal is most likely the factory applied adler. The seller also said that the remnants of the national shield are visible, which is a bit perplexing on an M40, although not unheard of. I also don't see the remnants in the pics. It looks like a very nice helmet for the money though, I would just want the description clarified a bit.

If you read the description again, you will see you are mistaken. This was the description provided to me by Peter Whammond of germanmilitaria.com, and I stand by it. Andy, it did not state that there were remnants of the national shield. If you look at the close-up, you can see bits of the Wehrmacht shield to the right and below Luft adler. Perhaps, it should have stated "...remnants of the original Heer eagle decal are just visible" to avoid possible misinterpretation.

                  It is a reissued helmet.

Yes, wehrmacht shield would be a tricolor decal in my book, so a bit confusing. I see the remnants next to the eagle now. Guess I would have to see that one first hand to decide what's going on. It still looks like an ET Luft to me that has been camoed or overpainted. No intent to disparage the helmet though, I like it a lot
