Thanks Perry, I will leave it alone. I take it you think it is a legit piece as well?
As for the question about the stitching...you mean on one of the ears in the back? i'm guessing? In this example the stiching does not run down one of the ears like on the other example I posted today. But from what I understand they don't all need to be this way to be correct. If I'm wrong then let me stand corrected. This liner is in rough shape, and I think it is period...it is certainly old and looks like it aged the right way...hope that answers your question?

oh, well I have no idea...the rivets have the proper dust, dirt and grim and do not look messed with. They are a touch loose, but nice and flat,
I think that is possible through wear and tear that they get a bit loose.
I remember in Baer book on helmets the german army had to send helmets back often for loose rivets and sheared rivets ealry on. Also he noted if stored improperly the rivets can loosen, otherwise I just don't know. Maybe someone else will have an answer to that,
