Help to clean the rust of my kriegsmarine helmet please

hello all,

I would like to know if any of you can help me to clean the rust of my kriegsmarine helmet

my helmet have a single decal that is in very nice condition but have rust inside and outside, the paint is not in very good condition but I want to avoid that the rust continue advancing and damaging the painting and the metal.

There's nothing you can do to bring it back to its original condition. Just keep it in the proper enviroment to keep the rust from advancing

I can restore it, put some pictures, I will see it.
Sometime I got 90% of original paint, which is invisible under rust...

thank you both for your help but there is no way to make the active rust inactive?? I mean if I leave the active rust in the helmet will be damaged more and more the paint and the metal itself.

If you need to stop the rust process just put some little bit vaseline over it and spread it with the piece of soft rag

Just keep a thin layer of it.
