Looks to be a well worn Heer only. You have the helmet in hand but does the FP# look like it was done by the same person that wrote the name?

The letters that form the name are a bit thicker than the first numbers of the fp# because the paint of the fp# is a bit worn. If you look closely and feel the paint you notice that it is thicker where the name is. If you look at it very good you see that the top of the 9 and the 4 from the fp# have the same color (a bit more yellow then the rest of the fp#) This color is the same as the name. If you look at the lower portion of the name you can see that it is the same color as the number so I think it is written in the helmet the same time as the name.
As for telling it is the same person that wrote it... I don't know because I am not an expert in handwriting. The lower portions of the name are not visible anymore...

                Benjamin,

Where did you get the information about the unit? From the FP# I suspect. It is important that you know that FP#'s were reused, so may apply to different units at different time periods. Perhaps you know this already, or perhaps the FP# you got originally is one that was used for various units, thus explaining the odd unit placement of this helmet.

Maybe this helps a bit pertaining to the unit.

                All the best,

                Chris

                  Hi Chris,

thanks for the heads up. I based my findings on the fp# so I got the information from the Militärgeschichtliches Forschungsamt, I just copied and pasted the text as they wrote: I don't know if the helmet was in all the units that they describe. Since it is an M35 you could think it would be in one of the first units but I don't know for sure. When I get the information about the soldier maybe I will know... Where was this helmet tagged with the name and fp#???: it can be in any of the units that were listed by the Militärgeschichtliches Forschungsamt.
I really like helmets you can research. I have a request for information pending about the soldier at the Deutsche Dienstelle.
                  Cheers,
                  Benjamin

Well, I think it can probably rule out the SS unit.

That is what I was thinking myself. As Perry said: a well worn heer. If it were SS, the runes would be on the other side or it would be a foreign volunteer ss helmet but the SS unit in the history of the feldpost# is native german..
