Can’t believe anyone hasn’t replied to this posting.
Looks like a particularly nice M40 SD DAK with nicely toned Heer Decal. I’d own it in a heartbeat

Nice helmet! Although not original to the helmet, the liner is. Later in the War, leather bands made of zinc and steel were occasionally fitted with leather that had been spiced, bonded, and stitched together using the stitched seam you mentioned. I'm assuming that supply constraints led to this decision.
