Love the description. And yes. Once upon a time ... a GI carefully packaged a shiny combat helmet for his nephew in a box and shipped it away. Or stuffed it in his duffel. Still has a story that we’ll never know. Cool find nonetheless.

man a lot of this stuff ended in garden even in USA ,so no surprise here as for me ,not the first one i see in this condition and for sure not the last one ,years ago it was just war time junk stuff,remind me on a super nice m40 WSS kampfgruppe Peiper named helmet wich was used as a flower bucket in Bugle area ,lucky found its way in to collection in all in all good condition
