    KM captain's hat with insignia

At the Union, NJ show over the weekend I saw a Naval officer's visor that had a small metal insignia about the size of a US dime, sewn on the left side. Approximately above the left temple.

It was basically a human figure in profile with the arm and hand drawn up to the face with the middle finger near the forehead....basically, giving the English navy "the bird" or the "middle finger" sign. Below is a pathetic representation of what I recall it looking like. No laughing please...

Anyone seen this before and know if it's associated with a particular group?

    Any pictures you can post?

    Thanks.

    Tony (NJ)

This would perhaps be the "Sie Wacht, Holzauge" (Watch out, wooden eye) cap insignia of the U-558.

The best picture I could find is the below picture featuring U-558 crewman Wilhelm Schmidts insigina grouping from indigo.ie/ ~pauldar/page13.html

          insignia

The one I saw was more like the one Sigurd posted. It was not a pin and it was very small. Say, the size of a dime and it was sewn in place. Someone who collects KM visors pointed it out to me and told me to check it out as it was original and worthy of seeing. When I first saw the insignia I thought it was a monkey pointing at its eye but the dealer said it was a guy giving the British the finger/flipping the bird.

The inside band had initials "HG" made of dots/little holes.

Assuming originality, what is the going price of something like this?
