    Helmet Cover

    Hi Guys,

This is an helmet cover I found a while back. It is stamped (you can almost not see it) with the year 1943.

A marsh 43 camo pattern ( I think )with foliage loops. Is it the real thing? In the book of Werner Palinckx I found an almost identical one. The colors and everything looks very mutch like the one I have in my collection.

I have doubts (as you should have in collection Heer WW2).

Does anyone have more information about this one ?

    http://www.xs4all.nl/~jnve/Helmet.html

    Thanks!

Werner is a member of this forum although I can't remember his forum name, it may be "Werner P". Anyway, send him a PM and ask him to look at your link.

I don't consider myself very knowledgable with Wehrmacht helmet covers but I know enough to stay way from this one if it was offered to me.

                Hello,

the camo looks like the early west german "border patrol" troops have in use in the early 50's.

I have to agree...the cover looks very, very bad. The seller says himself that he doesn't "think" the cover is good. IMO he should just say "the cover isn't good at all...it's a repro/fake"....cuz it's a obvious repro....

                  Cheers

Thanks but it isnt the for sale . Just kidding. I bought this one at an fair some time ago. Didn't cost me mutch and I had some indications from others colectors that its an bad one. But the opinion of you guys is great! The more reactions on it the better so I can now for certain if you get my drift .

Uuuuhhhh......sorry.... is that a link you issued!? I thought it was "the seller's" link ...

                      Still it's bad.... ....

For display or reenacting this one isn't too bad I think....it just isn't authentic......

                      Cheers

                        Helmet cover

                        Hi Jackal,

wat uw echte voornaam ? Dat praat makkelijker !

The helmet cover shown in the thread you mentioned is made of 100% original bundeswehr sumpfmuster camo cloth.
So if you look real close and in detail to the cover pictured in my book, you'll see that it is a whole different camo pattern and colors and cloth !

I am afraid the one shown in the thread is a copy. For re-enactors or to fool beginning collectors ( why else put a date stamp in it ??)

Ebay is flooded with items in this bundeswehr sumpfmuster camo.
I'll try to make some comparaisons to show the difference...could be a while, having troubles with my digital camera !
