    Ja!

These cost 25 dollars thirty-five years ago. Today, USD250 is a modest price. The piece is in good shape and has a leather sweat band versus Alkor or the like. If an army Tellemuetze goes for Euro 500 then I was a fool to sell all of mine recently. Wie dumm von mir!

Dear Colleague, can you give examples of various caps with inflating prices by way of orientation for those of us at the very end of the line, as it were?

Hi Donald, maybe "skyrocketed" was a bit strong but there was definitely a marked increase right across the board with Infantry visors like the one posted being in the £300 + range, WH EM M43's around £350, Officer versions £500 to £600 but most noticeable to me were the prices of DAK items. I saw a few very nice salty M41's with soutaches but they were up around the £2000 mark. Too rich for my blood! I did manage to pick up a few fairly priced bits and pieces though. I suppose it's all down to how hard you want to search for these things. Anybody can pop along to the well known dealers stalls and pay through the nose for their items, I prefer to sniff around like an old hound dog!

Dear Colleague, thank you. This is a help. I guess DAK is always a source of enthusiasm. An old hound dog of a dealer in so. California liberated his mouldering pile of DAK Schiffchen recently complete with Waffenfarben and these have been around for a more modest price. I applaud your sniffing, of course. I have no time for same, to my regret. Further, in the sense of common values and alliance cohesion, we send our solidarity to you in London at this time, as well. As regards dogs, finally, I was watching BBC and ITV here (we get them in the SF Bay Area) and the London Police have very attractive bomb dogs which make an excellent impression. I hope they catch all those four f#####s in the CCTV pictures and dispatch them to h#ll. Postscriptum: what is the UK cost of an army peaked cap for a Pz officer in excellent shape?

Thank you Donald (I think!) its mandatory unfortunately, I simply don't have the kind of funds that would buy me very much from most dealers tables..

I would guess somewhere in the region of £600 (dealers price) for a decent example although one made by Lubstein or similarly well regarded maker would of course cost a fair bit more.

Thanks for your kind words of solidarity. London is a rather strange and unnerving place to be living and working in at the moment.
Just don't know what will happen next...

            Cheers
            Ben

Dear Sir, thanks for this further information. The cap makers I prefer are Holters and Paul Kaps (no pun) Neisse. No matter what happens, we are all very much in it together. My father was born in London and it remains the hub of the universe. We are all in for a tough period. Best of luck with collecting and our heartfelt solidarity.
