How to find date on liner?

How do you get to the band under the liner to see the date on it?Does the entire unit come out?If so how.

    1. Have a small torch handy.
    2. Place the helmet upside down resting on its crown.
    3. CAREFULLY prise the liner away from the shell and look carefully on the liner band for a stamped marking. You should not need to move the liner by more than 1/2 inch or so.
    4. Under no circumstances force the liner to the extent that you cause any bending or misshaping of the band. Some markings are easier to see than others.
    5. The stamped marking is always on the outside of the liner band closest to the helmet shell.
LET US KOW WHAT YOU FIND.
    Regards,
    RAY.

Never take the liner out of the helmet. Also, some liners are very tight attached to the shell, can not be pulled to see the date - don't force them, the leather or the liner rings may be badly damaged with this.

I have the helmet in my hand now.The band is way too tight to move without damaging it, there is no movement at all.

            That's often the case.
Best leave it alone, rather than risk causing any damage.
A number of helmets in my collection also have very tight liner bands which I can't identify.

If you can't see the date by simply shinning a flashlight between the crack of the shell and liner dont do anything else as you may damage the liner.
