    Sorry! I responded to your question.....(Is it the traditional badge (17th infantry regiment) that is putting people off this one.........?)

      Moving an eagle up will leave prong or stitch holes and/or the outline of the original eagle. When the eagle is not moved up, you have a jammed together attempt at an upgrade like the cap in question.

      There's exceptions to every rule of course. For example, this rule does not apply for EM M-34 overseas caps, field mods etc. But an original officer's cap from the tailors will almost always have properly spaced insignia.

      People are saying that is not "typical", not that it is bad...hard to tell from the photographs. The hat looks good, it is the traditions badge that everyone is leery of....
