Right now the helmet is for sale on ebay out of Wisconsin, do you know some where else that is offering this helmet?

I concur with the gentlemen above, I believe the red cross and the white paint to be a recent reproduction. Certain qualities give it away. But the effort made to create such a fake is incredible.

I know what you are saying...but wow if fakes are getting this good, I am kinda scared. I do think this helmet will top out at about 1000.00 before the auction is over. Never thought I would see a fake like this out of wisconsin, I am a iowa boy so I better start watching out around here also!

I think it's an original helmet doctored up to add money to a basic helmet. I don't like the paint but more effort has been taken to give the paint age and wear than you usually see on fakes. Tim.

Martin Guerre, what we are saying is that this particulaer helmet has fake paint on it, not that this type of paint wasnt used during the war. If a farmer pulls one like this out of his barn, then they must have filmed Band of Brothers near his farm.

Hi Wade, I am very much in agreement with Tim's comments; they have taken a worn original helmet and added a fake paint job to the exterior. It is worth studying these as they all tend to have this "look" about them.

                                Cheers, Ade.
