Been away from collecting for years but trying to get back into it. Have a friend who does estate sales and came across a bunch of memorabilia and I dont know much about helmets or hats as I mainly dealt with medals. Can anyone tell me if this is original and if not what to look for in helmets like this for the future? Thanks a bunch.

There should be an EF stamp under the left chinstrap bale followed by the shell size. The lot number looks like a 1412 in a font used by EF. If that is correct, that would put it in a range of lot numbers where a decal is expected and EF did produce SS helmets. It looks like an ET style ss decal to me but I would wait for experienced expert eyes to confirm.Comment

I believe all the WWII militaria in that Estate sale is fake. I browsed the pictures for about 30 seconds whilst at work and moved on. I saw a lot of junk.Comment
