Thanks Willi, yes you've seen it, and we discussed it again a few years ago when I got it ,I am trying to place it, although I doubt that will be exactly possible but it fires my imagination.... You never know , future info may come to light and be posted up with one that has the same rich tan/ green linked to a vet that narrows the possibility down more.

If I had to i would say Libya/Egypt then Tunisia, but not a tan of the 3 types identified in John's great book, but seems of another unit amongst those FJ's that served in Africa - either from those just before, with or after the main Ramcke Brigade ...perhaps one of Witzig's pioneers.
The tan of Sicily & Italy seems just a touch paler to me in comparison.

Even if other M35 or M40 helmets with similar tan/ green were posted, that would be interesting to me ( my favourite camo combination - even though I have an FJR6 m38 - I know ...sacrilege! ) .

P.s Willi, yes you are correct about the green Tunisia pick up, although not sure where it is now. A belter of a helmet. You're getting to the stage where you're forgetting more than you ever knew Willi, like the old sages !

A fine clear picture of Sturm regiment members in Tunisia, could well be dabs of green on these well used helmets too...
