I have been trying to find information on an Italian who came to Canada after the war, but had served in the Italian Air Force. Is there a data base or way to find service records of Italians from the Second World War? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To the best of my knowledge these are the methods for requesting matriculation sheets:
for the Army it is the responsibility of the Document Centers (former Military Districts);
for the Navy it is the responsibility of Persomil 11th Div. located in Viale Dell'Esercito n.186, post code 00143 Rome;
for the Air Force this is the competence:
- Officers and non-commissioned officers: Persomil 12th Div. located in Viale dell'Esercito n.186, post code 00143 Rome - 06 5170 50865;
- Enlisted: "Matriculation Depot" located in Piazza Guerriero Gonzaga n. 17, post code 05018 Orvieto, tel. n. 0763 342811/23 or 0763 342823
Carabineers: for the first 10 years it is the responsibility of their General Command both for the Officers, for the NCOs and for the enlisted; then the Army Document Centers become competent.
Obviously the request must be motivated and documented for reasons of protection of privacy with family ties, pension reasons, etc. Very rare, I think, they are released for mere reasons of historical research by strangers.
Good luck with your research. You will certainly need to be very patient. But you could also try to contact the office of the military attaché of the Canadian embassy in Rome and this could perhaps accelerate the practice.
