Currently the 28th "Pavia" Regiment is a unit for "operational communications". In fact, since 2004 it has been reorganized with operational communications and psychological warfare tasks, which it carries out through its battalion divided into three companies specialized in the production of print and electronic, television and radio materials and in their dissemination. From 1 September 2014 it is directly dependent on the Army Special Forces Command, for support to the Italian Special Forces.
