Flemish?? collar tabs

Hi Guys,

these weird tabs appear something air force related. I showed them on the Luftwaffe forum and someone said they were DDR, however I am unable to find anything DDR that look like these!

The piping, attachments and also paper reverse remind me strongly of Flemish wartime insignia. Giel van Wassenhove recently posted a shoulder board on his website that he described as Flemish NSKK which has the same star pip on it.

Please would anyone be able to ID what these are?

Thank you for the reply and I think you are on to something!

They are not normal German RLB- wrong shape, colour, rank structure and piping.

However then I think they must be some kind of occupied territories Luftschutz - either Belgium or Holland.

Certainly one can find Dutch helmets with RLB insignia- anyone got a photo of such in wear that might feature these collar tabs??

Also these star pips on WW2 German tabs do not have the small striations on them - they are smooth

Notice the pip is the same as the one on the left tab- also notice the round wire prongs which are typically Flemish and not found on WW2 German pips

The lower rank sign of oakleaves is typically of late war zinc construction with 3 prongs to fold over- this is well evidenced with Luftwaffe gulls, rank pips, SS skulls, heer cap eagles etc etc as a known late war construction method...

Patrick ..well yes i guess the Occupied territorys had as you say their own air raid protection set up ...so quite possible there were differences in their stuff to actual German units back in the Reich !?
