Hello upbeek ...the badge featured on the eppaulett you have is the Colonial Lybian emblem used by the four Lybian inf divs in East Africa..these divs consisted of European Italians living in Lybia & Native Somarlian / Eritrean troops !..(two pics are of two items i have worn by the Colonial Lybian troops !)..i think that your one is for the Somarli/Eritrean troops ?...Semovente

Indeed it does look that way but in fact it is an Arab Muslim symbol, the badge does look like it is British made I will have a closer look.

I believe the badge is Sanusi Libyan known as the Libyan Arab Force in ww2 who fought with the British against the axis.

Ahh yes i read a book by Major Vladimir Peniakoff about the No 1 Demolition squad or as they are best known as 'Popskis private Army' who went to great pains to court the Senussi desert nomads into fighting on their side against the Axis...thats a most interesting item Chay if its from them !
