Need ID Help: Bronze Crest from Italian Battleship Andrea Doria?

Hello again! I do want to say that I appreciate this forum's panel of experts when it comes to militaria.

As some of you know, I am always on the hunt for Regia Marina artifacts, especially those that pertain to a specific ship.

I think I found something from one of those ships - the battleship Andrea Doria, but I'm not terribly sure. The problem is that there are multiple Andrea Dorias (a very old ironclad, an old cruiser and a newer destroyer) and there isn't a lot of information on Italian Navy tampions.

The object in question is made of bronze and is 8.8 inches by 6.5 inches.

I think I ruled out the newer destroyer since the crest in question looks older (contrast this with the picture above).

I don't know if I can rule the cruiser out yet since it apparently did have crests. However, a copy of the cruiser crest I found via Google seems to disprove the above item as from the cruiser. Namely, the crown is different on both crests.

I kind of doubt its the ironclad Andrea Doria, but I'm not sure about that either...

What do you guys think? I just want to know I'm getting the crest / tampion from the battleship...and not the more modern ships.

    Thanks!

      I had my suspicions.

How do you know this is from the post-war cruiser? I don't know whether the Regia Marina ships even had tampions...

I apologize for necro-ing this thread, but I've returned to this crest because of some interesting things I found:

The two images above are apparently related to the missile cruiser Andrea Doria - the one we were suspecting of the bottom image coming from.

The more modern Andrea Doria has a brighter look to it.

Question: Did the missile cruiser Andrea Doria go through multiple crest designs? The one that I found doesn't have any references to missiles, unlike the example above.

I'm just asking here because there isn't that much information on Regia Marina stuff in general, so I was wondering if a good eye can take a look at this.

With this evidence, I'm just wondering if this topic needs another re-examination because of the differences between the two crests.

        Thanks!
