    Spanish Sahariana bush jacket !

    Good Evening gents ..a little of your time men if you will ?...i have this nice Spanish Sahariana i picked up.. but iam not too up on Spanish kit so does any one know what sort of era these were in use etc.. 30s 40s or ?? ....thanks Semovente

    Yes 30s m 40s and into The 50s . I have seen them dated in red. Most seen look to be unissued surplus . I do believe I remember seeing early photos
    Of Spaniards wearing them in Civil War photos though . They are quite recognizable by the buttons

    They are nicely made, but unfortunately they pop up on this forum jacked into Afrika Korp now and then.

      Thanks Dennis ......there are some stamps inside but not able to make out what they are ..too faint to read !...but yes as you say a nice example of a unissued jacket ! ... Semovente

        There are also pictures of members of the Spanish Blue Division wearing them behind the front. I guess some members wore them on leave or enroute to or from the front line positions. Jim

              The stamping inside are in a blue ink one is this oblong stamp that reads 10 Nov 39..or 59 ??..its hard to tell..the large circle stamp is to faint to read !

                Looking at the attached thread Nick G has a nice pic of the same type Spanish sahariana jacket being worn and a date of 1943 on the rear of the postcard !...

                  As far as I am aware, this pattern was introduced by 1943 regulations and phased out in 1960. Obviously modeled after the Italian sahariana bush-jacket also seen during the Spanish Civil War.
