Hello SL320...looks like you have a nice field forage cap/bustina for the maritime artt militia ..any chance of seeing more of it please ?...what i can tell you from my book on MVSN is its after 1935 -38 as it has the anchour below the fascio ..& depending on rank (with star or not )..yours with star ..is for Consuls in command !. ..Semovente

Thank you Semovente... I have seen so far only badge with the number in the circle below the cannons and not in the center of them.
So do you say it is correct? ant is is for an Officer?

The earlier badge had the anchor behind the cannons.. the number circle was below !..the cannons angle was changed to look more like the Army badges , while the anchor moved below the fascio after 1935...the unit number was in the middle !..the star denotes the rank ..i.e..Consul ...Semovente

Many thank semovente for your explanation
please are you sure the star is for an Officer rank?
Was it possible that an High Officer like Console had a bustina and a frontal badge for troop?

Where did you get this information from?
            It is wrong!
The star over the fascio has nothing to do with the rank.
No Italian cap badge ever had a star for the rank.
Rank was indicated on the side of the cap by stars or, earlier, stripes.

The badge shown here is for troops, such is the cap.

Unit was the 7a Legione MILMART from Augusta region, Sicily.

Yes, the star is shown but it is not written that the star is indicating the rank.

Yes i agree Tankredi..but i asked SL320 for more pics as he had asked if it was for officers etc !..and as i couldnt tell from his photos if any rank was on the bustina ..i said depending on rank ..then consul etc if it did have any form of rank insignia on the side !..hence the star bit !..i have officers bustina with black rayon badge like the ORs ..but with rank stars on the side as normal so with badge it was possible !?...but all good SL320 your cap is a nice one..

Thank you very much for your competent comments.
Unfortunately now I am away so I cannot post other photos of the cap.
I'll do it as soon as posssible.
Anyway the cap is surely for troop and have not in its side trace of rank.

Some pictures of places where the unit actually served.
                        Magnisi peninsula, Sicily.

In the background, other side of the bay, one can see Augusta.
