Repro "Croix de Guerre Etat Français 1944" on eMedals

    Hi,

this post will be probably too late for the idiots that are currently ready to pay the price of an original for the reproduction model (sold as repro) made in the 2000's by JMF Collections International and presented for example in the 2011 special issue magazine on the French volunteers in the Germany Army (price at the time : 55 euros).

    https://www.emedals.com/auctions/fra...-guerre-c-1944

The "Croix de Guerre Etat Français (1944)" is a controversial model, and despite i'm known to be a fanatical skeptic, it is in my opinion fully original as the front/back seemed clearly to be manufactured and mounted by the Monnaie de Paris. I also know the full story about the "discovery" of a mint stock in the 70's.
I also know that a fake mounted on original Monnaie de Paris cross exist.

Probably made for the "1er Régiment de France" (one of the only remaining French Army units after November 11, 1942, regiment created in 1943), a mint lot of crosses (without ribbons) was found in the 1970's. From time to time, an original pop up... Valued to +400 euros (because many collectors think it is a fantasy item).
If it is fantasy, i can't explain that every single fake medal using the "Croix de Guerre Monnaie de Paris 1939 cross design" is horrible compared to this medal in which the front/back seemed to not be homemade added like the dozen that are available on the market.

On another hand, we are missing more infos about this medal (papers, orders, etc). It seemed to have never been awarded, probably due to the late creation (1944). In 1944, the "1er Régiment de France" will a) fight against some maquis b) try to stay neutral (most of the time... for the German troops) and c) for the Résistance in which some subunits will enlist and fight for the Liberation of France.

Below, the front/back of an original, and the front/back of the reproduction.
You need to be blind to make the error...

    See You

    Hi,

A 2011 extract of the JMF Collections International catalogue.

Notice the various other reproductions. Amongst them, eMedals is currently proposing a "Croix de Guerre Giraud" and a "Croix de Guerre Légionnaire" (see the topics i will do on them).

      Hi,

crooks understood that collectors are most of the time totally unaware of what they collect...

Therefore like for the "Croix de Guerre Légionnaire" and other French War Crosses using the 1939 design by La Monnaie de Paris (Paris Mint), they started to put repro/fake front/back chips on... original "Croix de Guerre 1939" to get a better looking "Croix de Guerre Etat Français (1944)".

The first picture is showing this kind of homemade mounting (front/back chips from the JMF Collections International reproduction model mounted on an original Croix de Guerre 1939 Monnaie de Paris cross - like for the original).

The second picture is showing another homemade mounting, this time on what seemed to be an... Arthus-Bertrand WWI French War Cross (nota : the Arthus-Bertrand WW1 cross was the official model, for WW2 it was the Monnaie De Paris model).

To the contrary of most of the original "Croix de Guerre Etat Français (1944)", you will notice that unless the "pimped" fakes are fully repainted, you will see the difference of color between the crosses and the front/back chips.

      See You

        Hi,

here is the dangerous fake from which 3 models were identified in the recent years.
Homemade front/back chips mounted on original "Croix de Guerre 1939 Monnaie de Paris" cross.

You will need to check carefully the medal... But the design of the fake front/back chips are clearly different to the original.

            Hi,

Boboske /BC.C. Militaria is proposing copies... of some of the JMF reproductions (like for the "Croix de Guerre Légionnaire").
The repro (of the repro !) is made in a single piece, and is mold in grey/black metal.
