here is my recent acquisition.
It is a very rare Italian ag mask. The respiratore antigas mod. Penna was the first main model of ag mask issued to the Regio Esercito after the WWI.
It had three types of filter, a combat model (marked with a letter A and a white star), a training model (marked with a letter E) and a combat and training model (marked with a letter R and a white star).
Early version had a mask equipped with 6 ties, later they had 5 ties.
This model of ag mask is very rare because it had a short life as it was replaced after a short time by the M31 ag Mask.
However a a small part of them had been used by Regio Esercito in WWII due to restrictions of the war economy.
They are recognizable for the 5 ties mask and the M33 gas mask filter.
Later type of modello Penna had been modified replacing their obsolete filter with a modern adaptable one.
Finally I have found one of these complete with its proper bag.

...i nearly bought one of these but the filter was missing of end of the pipe !..wish i had now !..but ive got the bag for it ...and the later type 35 mask & bag too !....Semovente
