    Italian Tanker Helmets

I am looking to purchase a WW2 Italian tank helmet and have a question for the forum.

WW2 Italian tank crew helmets and later Spanish tank helmets. They both look quite similar, apart from the Spanish badge, what are the differences, and how do you tell them apart please?

Thank you for your assistance, Keith

(PLease contact me if you have an original WW2 Italian tank helmet for sale)

Two things are the Spanish have a black interior liner instead of creme colored one and different air vents . The question is to know the difference between a post war Carbinieri motorcycle one and wartime tankers one. I will let someone else explain that in more detail.

I think there may be a previous thread.

Well Kanister i seem recall this came up in a previous thread about this !?..but i cannot recall who it was posted a wartime tankers helmet.. but it had a postwar stamp/date..!?...much daebate resulted on it some saying it was postwar !..others saying wartime but reissued after WW2..a bit like the 2nd type pith helmet debate WW2 or not WW2.!?...well imo its a wartime tankers helmet thats been reissued !..such things happened !..and its like other wartime tank helmets that ive personally had myself including also spanish examples...but thats just my ten cents !...

I gave this little contribution also in another old thread; here is a pict from "Il Vigile" movie where the great Alberto Sordi is a motorcycled policeman about in 1960.
Who knows if the helmet is a postwar manufactured one or WW2 reissued?

The question stated by Dennis below is always a must before acquiring these helmets...

Quite so Joda i think thats about right....but i think from the pic you can make out a small visor peak under the bump ring of the motorcycle helmet !...Semovente

The helmet in the 'Il Vigile' is a post WWII specimen having also the peak for the
                      motorciclists. PaoloM

Paolo Marzetti is correct as always.

Moreover we must not confuse the WWII tanker helmet with the WWII motorcycle helmet.
Motorcycle helmet had not the protective leather vertical band, but had only a short leather band for the nape and a frontal peak.

here are some pics of M35 motorcycle helmet

We can also find WWII tanker helmet with a RRCC frontal badge, or trace of it, because sections of Royal Carabinieri were present in every Italian armored division.

Which is what i could see also in Jodas film clip still..so as Zip3120 pointed out !...not to be mixed up with the WW2 tankers helmet !?......just as a extra bit interest the Italian police must have then phased out the leather one in favour of this 1960s type ?...Semovente
