A 66 MAVAG hungarian helmet with camo overpaint

    My fellow collectors ,

Inspired by the two nice helmets shown here lately I would
like to show one of my hungarian WWII helmets.

As you can see the helmet has received an extra coat of paint.
The colour itself looks like the typical bluish gray used on vehicles and equipment of the Wehrmacht.

              Hallo Bernhard,

really nice MÁVAG helmet with typical camo/overpaint!
Do you know maybe something about the history of this helmet?
Do you have other Hungarian items?

Here is a similar helmet to yours. It is unfortunately not in a good condition, but it is from the river Don-bend, so for me it has a big value! It is a typical early GY (Magyar Vaggon és Gépgyár Rt, Győr) helmet. (Excuse my because of the water marks on the pictures, they are from the sellers site...)

It's great seeing some Hungarian helmets being posted, I love them! Very under appreciated here in the US.

Thanks for your comments gentlemen !
Unfortunately I do not anything about the helmet´s history.
I simply bought it on a military show here in Austria.

My hungarian helmet collection consists of two other WWII helmets and two postwar reworks .
An extremely nice WWII hungarian messkit found also it´s way into my collection.

                        Regards

                        Bernhard

                            Bernhard,

I'd like to add my Hungarian helmet to your thread. I bought when I lived in Budapest. Don't remember exactly when but it must have been between 2006 and 2009. Unfortunately, it has some rust spots but is complete with liner and chin strap. There is a small mark, inside a circle, on the inside of the back skirt which I can not identify. Also, an ink marking of some type on the liner. Perhaps someone on the forum can identify these markings for me.

                            Regards,

                            Gordon
